AUDITION NOTICE / Seeking Brave Performers for Vera & Linus

A new work by Kipuka Theater Company

A tale of love, devotion and general villainy.

Vera & Linus must dress well, speak well, be, in fact, masters of speaking, of dancing, of writing, of painting [, of killing].  In short, a [lady and] gentleman, though we require no article of birth. For [The fated two,] ascend a ladder of merit and will.  Forcefulness, not in society, but on its edges! 2.25.5 (3 women & 3 men; ages 21-30)

Ball & Bjornsdottir’s The Disastrous Tale of Vera and Linus is a surprising, playful and haunting collection of storie s and schemes. Ball describes his book as, “[a] play of identities and avatars. The acts of the individual who dismisses rights and judgments, but welcomes and delights in savage consequences—this is a way of world-building.”

For 12 weeks this summer, Vera & Linus take audiences through three merging episodes: Plucking the Strings, Love & Slaughter, and The Moon. Performances are designed on the clock for public spaces. Tickets provide schedule, maps and context.
